A fire from an outdoor burn threatened homes and destroyed several vehicles and a shed in Finley on Sunday, said Capt. Devin Helland from Benton Fire District 1.
Several fire agencies and Benton County sheriff’s deputies reported to calls of a possible structure fire about 1 p.m. on the 223000 block of East Main Street off Finley Road. Crews arrived to flames that almost spread to one of the houses, and already destroyed a boat, shed, truck and other property.
Tammy Rose of Finley lives on East Main Street, and said she was not home when the flames started.
“It was starting to spread near my house,” she said.
Rose said there were also several dogs inside, including her own pitbull, Ode. Fire crews and neighbors helped round them all up.
“They got all the dogs out,” Rose said.
Outdoor burning of any kind is not allowed since the fire danger level is very high, Helland said.
Benton County sherriff’s deputies are talking to a man who may have started the fire. Charges are pending.
No homes were damaged and no one was hurt.
