Firefighters are sending out a message for everyone to do what they can in their homes to prevent fires after a house fire Thursday morning.
It happened just after 9 a.m. in the 1000 block of South First Avenue.
Firefighters say the fire started on the back patio and reached a nearby motor home.
A man was safely rescued by fire crews.
Firefighters want to remind everyone that while our area is still under a red flag warning, that applies to not just wildlands but homes as well.
“Think of your house, it's actually organic materials. So in the structure side, when we talk red flag warning that low relative humidity causes erratic fire behavior in the structure side too. So it's just as dangerous for you in your home as it is outside,” said Yakima Fire Department Captain Jeff Pfaff.
