Two local fires - one at a North Seattle greenhouse and one at a home in Arlington - caused considerable damage overnight, but no one was injured in either blaze.
Crews responded to the greenhouse fire, at Swanson's Nursery in the 9700 block of 15th Avenue NW, at about 2:15 a.m. after receiving calls about flames and smoke coming from a building there.
Arriving at the scene, firefighters found a fire in the roof and were able to extinguish it. Damage was mostly confined to a storage area, but some debris fell onto the first floor as well.
The cause was determined to be some kind of electrical malfunction.
Meanwhile, in Arlington, crews responded at about 1 a.m. to reports of a fire at a home in the 300 block of South Cobb Avenue. When they arrived, they found flames shooting out one whole side of the house.
A second alarm was sounded and more crews responded to the scene.
It took more than an hour to get control of that fire. Crews are staying there all morning to watch for flare-ups.
