Rain or shine, Camano Island Fire & Rescue welcomes everyone to an open house Sept. 10 at Terry’s Corner Fire Station, 525 E. North Camano Drive, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with hot dogs served for lunch 11:30 to 12:30.
Visitors will see the new pump trainer purchased with a donation from Pat Keating, a president of the former Camano City Sparklers and member of the Madrona Fire Sirens auxiliary.
With the new equipment, pump operators can train while conserving precious water resources. In fact, during the first week with the trainer in service, CIFR firefighters pumped the equivalent of 100,000 gallons of water with little to no water spilled on the ground.
One of the two new ambulances recently purchased will be on display. The new ambulances are smaller, lighter and more cost effective and offer a smoother ride.
They replace current ambulances, which have nearly 300,000 miles on their odometers.
Camano Preparedness Group will offer fire prevention tips and disaster preparation information.
Emergency Medical Information (EMI) kits will be available at no charge for Camano Island residents. It will be a good time to talk to CIFR medical personnel about the kits and how they help the emergency crews provide the best care.
