Firefighters rescued the injured driver of a car who plunged down a steep embankment overnight near Watershed Park in Olympia.
Police and emergency crews responded to the scene, at 22nd Avenue SE and Boundary Street SE, at about 9 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of a vehicle going over the embankment.
A car was found about 75 feet down the slope, with the injured driver still inside, Olympia Fire Fighters IAFF Local 468 said.
Firefighters secured the car from sliding further down the steep incline, then extricated the driver from the car. The driver was brought back up to the roadway using a rope system and a special basket for transporting patients.
