Firefighters are out in freezing temperatures Wednesday morning battling a fire in the Maple Leaf neighborhood of North Seattle. The fire at a home on Northeast 94th Street and 17th Avenue Northeast was called out at about 4:20 a.m. Firefighters say the home started in the basement, extended out the window, up the side of the building and into the attic. The family who lived in the home got out ok. The fire brought a large response from firefighters because of the home’s proximity to other residences and the need to rotate the fire crew during freezing temperatures. Firefighters have called for a sand truck to come to the scene, where water used to stop the fire is freezing on the road.
