Law enforcement officers saved an elderly couple stuck inside a burning house Wednesday night. Firefighters responded to the 200 block of Northeast Vena Street at approximately 9:25 p.m., Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue said. Law enforcement officers arrived on scene first and evacuated the couple before firefighters arrived. The fire was reported by an occupant who was in the house when the fire erupted, authorities said. The caller and another resident had escaped safety. Upon arrival, firefighters immediately upgraded the fire to a two-alarm blaze. Live wires that had fallen on the side of the house posed an additional safety threat, authorities said.
