Firefighters ran into trouble as they responded to an overnight fire at a commercial building in Shoreline - the nearest hydrant was broken. The battalion chief says a car hit the hydrant earlier this week and it hadn't been fixed yet. So crews scrambled to find another hydrant in the area. A small apartment was destroyed in the two-alarm blaze, across the street from Carter Subaru at 17225 Aurora Ave N., but two people got out safely and no one was hurt. A barber shop and printing shop also sustained damage in the fire, which broke out just after midnight on Thursday. Crews had to shut off power to the area, displacing a total of 10 people who now need another place to stay.
