An elderly woman was burned in a Skyway house fire Friday morning when she tried to rescue the family dogs. An elderly man suffered smoke inhalation. Firefighters went to the house in the 6700 block of South 120th Street just before 7:45 a.m. They found smoke coming from the back of the house. The woman suffered burns when she tried to rescue four dogs. She and the man who suffered smoke inhalation were treated, then taken to a local trauma center. The dogs were taken to a veterinarian. Firefighters said the injuries underscore that people should stay out of a home on fire and allow firefighters to make any rescues. The cause of the fire was an electric heater that malfunction, according to the King County Sheriffs Office fire investigation unit. Damage to the home was $25,000 and there were no other injuries.
