It's not every day wildfire crews get support from their four-legged friends. Over the weekend, a friendly elk shared some affection to firefighters and officers battling the wildfires in Kittitas County. "She is making her rounds, giving kisses to each firefighter and officer here," Kittitas County Fire District #7 said on the Facebook page. The elk, known by "Buttons" by locals, was orphaned as a youngster and has made a hillside area off U.S. Highway 10 near Cle Elum. Residents say they've adopted her as a neighborhood mascot. “She showed up here when she was little and adopted the goats and horses as her family, and she just stayed around,” Chane Roghair told the Daily Record News.
