The Pasco Fire and Police departments have already established a "Hostile Action" training to handle the most stressful of situations. Now, Benton County fire agencies in Kennewick and Richland are working to adopt the same training procedure. "Whether that be a mass casualty incident , an active shooter event. It's for us to collaboratively work with PD, says captain Ryan Scellick of Pasco Fire. By taking from Pasco Fire and Police example, Benton County fire officials say this will put everyone on the same page. "This gives us ability to work together talk same language do same things together," says chief Bill Whealan of Benton County Fire District 4. Also on the menu for Benton County is ballistic armor. "The plan is to use Home Land Security grant funding to purchase bullet proof vests and med equipment," says manager Deanna Davis of Benton County Emergency. Fire agencies are planning to get up to $80,000 worth of ballistic armor in the fall. "Now has an opportunity to locally enhance our relationships," says training officer Kevin Landon of Richland Fire.
