Bob J. Schmitt, age 64, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in the British Virgin Islands, while swimming in the beautiful waters and living life to the fullest. Bob was born on Jan. 29, 1952 in Auburn, Wash., to Jim and Joanne Schmitt. He was a 1970 graduate of Auburn High School. Bob married Sini on March 24, 1984, and they were happily married for 32 years. He joined the Edmonds Fire Department in 1978, where he worked until he retired in 2006 as a Battalion Chief. Bob’s Harley motorcycle is filled with bumper stickers from all over the country, including ones from Europe. His passion for riding embodies his lust for traveling, experiencing other cultures, and living a carefree lifestyle. Bob’s final years were spent with Sini in their motor home, exploring new sights and scenery. Bob embodied two extremes, play hard and work hard. He proved you could actualize your dreams if you are willing to work for it. Bob is survived by his wife, Sini; sister, Sandy Schmitt; and sons Beau, Brandon and Jacob. Family, friends and others whose lives Bob touched are invited to attend a Firefighter memorial at Holy Rosary Church, 760 Aloha St., Edmonds, WA 98020, at 1-1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 17. This will be followed by his Celebration of Life, which will take place at the same location, from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
