No injuries were reported after a Centralia home was seriously damaged by a fire early Monday morning. The fire, which was reported at 3:30 a.m. Monday, was the second reported in the 100 block of Clearview Heights in less than 18 hours. Both fires started near the homes’ garages, said Assistant Chief Rick Mack of the Riverside Fire Authority. “It’s way early for us to make any kind of assumptions,” Mack said. “It’s not something that happens every day.” The first fire on Clearview Heights was reported at 12:57 p.m. on Sunday, just down the block from Monday morning’s fire. That fire reportedly started near the home’s garage, and was put out by homeowners before crews arrived, Mack said. Firefighters from the Riverside Fire Authority responded to the block again at about 3:30 a.m. Monday to a report of a residential structure fire in an occupied home. The first arriving units found one side of the single story house, including a small shed, was “well-involved,” in fire. The fire was spreading to a garage and into the attic of the residence. All of the home’s occupants were able to escape without injuries. The home was heavily damaged, with most of the roof destroyed.
