A boat erupted in flames on Flowing Lake near Snohomish Thursday morning. The fire started shortly before 4 a.m. Neighbor David Donovan said he woke up when he heard the boat's fuel tank explode. When he went outside to investigate, he saw the burning boat heading toward where he had his jet ski anchored. Donovan moved his jet ski and said the fire department used a high-pressure stream from a fire hose to direct the 18-foot ski boat out into the lake to keep it from burning the dock. Donovan took photos from his jet ski as the boat burned and drifted in the darkness. The burned-out boat is beached. The Department of Ecology responded and said there was a small amount of petroleum in the water. No animals were harmed. It is not known how the fire started.
