A 50-year-old woman was killed when the car she was driving struck a tree in Kent and burst into flames. Firefighters arrived to find the driver trapped inside the burning car on the East Valley Highway just south of S. 200th Street just after 2:15 p.m.. They were able to free the driver and get the person into the back of an ambulance, but the woman was later pronounced dead. No one else was involved the crash and there were no other injuries, Kent police said. The victim's name has not been released.
