Firefighters rescued a wheelchair-bound man from a Kent house fire on Monday afternoon. A fire started sometime after 3 p.m. in a shed in the area of 132nd Avenue SE and SE 266th Street. By the time firefighters arrived on scene, the fire had spread to a neighboring home, according to officials with the Kent Fire Department. Fire crews searched the home and found a wheelchair-bound resident in a room on the second floor. They were able to safely get the man out of the house. No one else was inside and no one was injured. The fire spread to the roof before firefighters were able to get water on it. It was mostly extinguished, save for a few "hot spots," by 4:15 p.m., according to the fire department. It's unclear what caused the fire or how much damage was done.
