Nobody was injured in a Tuesday night house fire on Bainbridge Island, but firefighters say the structure was completely destroyed. Someone called 911 at about 7 p.m. to report smoke and flames coming from a home on Peterson Hill Road. The house was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived a short time later, according to Bainbridge Island Assistant Fire Chief Luke Carpenter. Nobody was home when the fire started, but Carpenter said three dogs were inside. Firefighters were able to rescue two of the dogs, but a third is still missing. Crews from Bainbridge, North Kitsap and Poulsbo fought the fire defensively because it was too dangerous to go inside. They were eventually able to knock the fire the down, but not before the home was completely destroyed.
