If you live in Spokane and you need to go to the hospital, they will take you. American Medical Response, or AMR, handles 45,000 calls in the Spokane area each year, according to their website. The company maintains that on average they get to calls for help faster than they are required to.
Data obtained by 2 On Your Side revealed, AMR continues to pay the City of Spokane tens of thousands of dollars in fines, or liquidated damages, for arriving late to calls. Those fines are not necessarily cause for concern, according to experts.
“I think from a system prospective they’re doing a very good job,” Assistant Spokane Fire Chief, Brian Schaefer said of AMR.
