Police and firefighters are trying to piece together a confusing story after a man was rescued from the Spokane River near the TJ Meenach Bridge, found grasping a tree branch screaming for help. However, the events that led up to it have police stumped on how he actually got there. “He was extremely hypothermic, his body temperature was very low. He’s very confused,” said Brian Schaeffer from the Spokane Fire Department. The 27-year-old man was put onto a stretcher and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. At last check, firefighters say he is now in stable condition. “He remembers being upside down in the car and the car flooding with water,” said Schaeffer. Firefighters say the man was able to tell them that he’s from Montana and married.
