The Red Cross is helping at least seven people who were displaced after a two-alarm fire ripped through their Everett apartment complex early Tuesday. Firefighters responded to the scene, in the 8300 block of 11th Drive West, at about 12:15 a.m. after receiving reports of flames and smoke at the building. A second alarm was quickly sounded because the building has no fire sprinklers. Everyone was able to escape the building safely. It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze. Several units were damaged by fire, smoke or water from fire hoses. Firefighters say it appears the fire started on a porch, then spread quickly, with flames shooting out from the roof. Investigators are now trying to determine the cause of the fire.
