A man was able to escape with his life as flames destroyed one home and damaged an adjacent one early Friday in Federal Way. Crews responded to the scene, in the 1600 block of South 333rd Street, at around 3 a.m. after receiving reports that a fire had broken out at the home. When they arrived, the home was completely engulfed in flames. The home's occupant and his dog were able to get out safely. The fire was so dangerous that crews were forced to fight it defensively from the outside. A nearby vacant home was also scorched but firefighters were able to limit the damage. It's still early in the investigation, but fire crews think a heater maybe to blame for the blaze.
