A firefighter with East Pierce Fire and Rescue died Saturday in a dirt bike crash. The man, Capt. Tim McCoy, was a longtime firefighter. He was taken to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries and later died there. McCoy, 59, joined the Bonney Lake Fire Department around 30 years ago. The department became part of East Pierce Fire and Rescue in 2000, officials said. McCoy rose from firefighter to lieutenant, then captain, often serving as acting battalion chief; he planned to retire in June.
