Grays Harbor Fire Protection District #5, which covers the Porter, Elma, and Satsop area of East Grays Harbor County has decided to ask voters to establish an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) funding levy. At the July Commissioners’ meeting, the Board passed a resolution authorizing the placement of a renewable six-year EMS Levy proposition on the November 8th ballot for citizen consideration. At the August 11th, 2016 Commissioners’ meeting the Board unanimously passed to commit to fund an Ambulance membership program utilizing the funding from an EMS levy. The passage of the EMS levy would provide funding for an ambulance membership, which would help pay for citizens of the District to be transported to hospital emergency rooms by the Fire District ambulance without incurring out-of-pocket expenses, thus paying only the insured amount, as allowed by law.
