About 250 firefighters are now on the scene of the Rock Creek Fire, which has burned 660 acres of timber on the Naches Ranger District to the north of State Route 410.
That's about double the personnel from Sunday and a Type II incident management team took over the fire this morning, said spokesman Randy Sheppard.
The fire is considered 10 percent contained as of Monday morning, and the response is "going pretty well," Sheppard said.
Winds weren't as strong yesterday as fire officials had initially feared, he added. "It didn't make any runs overnight but it was active, which is unusual, but this fire's been active two nights in a row," he said. "The night crew did deal with some spot fires, but within the existing perimeter."
