Fire crews managed to contain the 230 Yard Fire Tuesday night, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
The wildfire, which started on Sunday, burned a total of 208 acres, according to officials. The wildfire, located on the east side of the Columbia River near Elmer City and Grand Coulee, canceled school on Monday for Lake Roosevelt High School. Junior High School and Elementary. Nespelem School District also canceled class Monday.
At one point, 50 homes were threatened, along with 75 minor structures, though it does not appear any of those buildings were damaged.
Fire investigators are still looking into what caused the fire. Fire officials said they plan to demobilize on Wednesday morning.
