A man was airlifted with serious injuries Friday after an explosion and fire at a home in Enumclaw, emergency officials said. Firefighters and medics responded to the scene, in the 43900 block of 284th Avenue SE, at about 10:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire at a home there, said Enumclaw Fire Chief Randy Fehr. Smoke and flames were billowing from the home's second floor when fire crews arrived, and an injured man was found outside the home. He was treated at the scene and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The man told responders that he was home alone and heard an explosion from a second-floor bedroom, then flames and smoke began spreading. Fire crews doused the blaze, which caused heavy damage to the second-floor bedroom. There was more fire damage to the rest of the second floor and smoke damage throughout the entire home.
