Some of Yakima's new firefighters are training on life-saving techniques.
They're practicing how to rescue people from a burning building at their training facility. Part of the training involves getting a person out of a window from three stories up.
They also practiced going into a smoke-filled room and rescuing a firefighter in need.
The drills also include working with different hoses and water pressure.
"There's a lot of pressure on these guys when they're fighting fire, and the stress, there's a lot of decisions that can be made the wrong way or the right way, so by doing it in a training atmosphere we can get all those jitters out and build a lot of confidence,” said Capt. Jeff Pfaff with the Yakima Fire Department.
Firefighters consistently do drills to make sure they stay on top of their skills.
