One person was injured when a large fire destroyed a garage and damaged a nearby duplex in Renton early Tuesday morning. The fire broke out around 4 a.m. in the 300 block of S. 6th Street, according to Deputy Chief Chad Michael with Renton Fire. Firefighters arrived to find a detached garage fully engulfed in flames. Flames were too intense to go inside, so firefighters had to fight the fire defensively and focused on protecting neighboring residences. An apartment complex and adjacent duplex did suffer some minor fire damage, Michael said. Warren Johnson lives next door to where the fire happened and was awakened by his son.
