A home in East Central Spokane was heavily damaged by fire Wednesday morning.
Spokane firefighters were called to 117 S. Perry Street, near Pacific Avenue, at about 5:15 a.m. When they arrived, large plumes of fire were coming out of the first-floor windows, said Craig Cornelius, a battalion chief for Spokane Fire Department.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze within minutes, then performed a primary and secondary search of the home, Cornelius said. They didn’t locate anyone inside, though they were sifting through a large amount of debris that was left inside.
“It appears to be a vacant home,” he said.
