Nine families were rushed to safety after their apartment complex burst into flames early Saturday morning.
One occupant was transported to Harborview Medical Center with burn injuries, Kathy Cummings with the Kent Fire Department said.
A dog died and a cat was rescued, Cummings said. Residents reported two other cats as missing.
Forbes Creek Apartments, in the 10,000 block of 113th Court Northeast, caught fire around 3:30 a.m., Cummings said.
Cummings says a resident of the building was awakened by the fire and warned other residents to evacuate.
Firefighters on scene reported heavy flames coming from multiple sides of the building.
