Firefighters made short work of a fast-moving grass fire near Omak Tuesday evening.
The fire, which was burning on a hillside south of the old Omak Wood Products mill, was contained by 6 p.m., said Okanogan County Emergency Manager Maurice Goodall.
“We had good response. They had three drops from aircraft, which was probably a big help,” he said.
Goodall said he does not know the size or cause of the fire. Local fire districts, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and a Department of Natural Resources aircraft worked to contain it.
People in the area were notified there was a fire in the area, but no evacuation notices were issued, he said.
