Firefighters had their hands full late Wednesday afternoon with two brush fires and a fire that destroyed a north Yakima home. Quick action helped crews from the Yakima Fire Department bring the first of the fires under control in west Yakima. Two engines responded to a brush fire around 3:30 p.m. off of 88th Avenue and Rose Lane — near 88th Avenue and Wide Hollow Road. Fire crews were on the scene for just over an hour, establishing a perimeter that prevented the flames from reaching nearby residential homes.
