With the high temperatures and low humidity Eastside Fire and Rescue decided to increase staffing of wildland firefighters. An extra crew is staffing the brush truck out of Station 87 in North Bend. The crew will respond anywhere they are needed in Zone 1 which covers most of the Eastside and around the north end of Lake Washington and south to Shoreline. Eastside Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Richard Burke said he has his "A Team" ready to go. Not only will they have the equipment to respond quickly, he says they have the expertise to assess a fire and ask for more resources. "It just makes good sense to invest in putting crews on, ready to respond quickly so we can jump on those fires early, " said Deputy Chief Richard Burke, who is in charge of operations for Eastside Fire and Rescue.
