A near-record stretch of temperatures above 90 degrees has cooked the Eastern Washington landscape to tinder dry conditions and land managers are gradually increasing the restrictions to help prevent kicking off another wildfire. The latest announcement is posted today as Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area officials say they will prohibit all fires starting Friday, until further notice. They say: No open flames are permitted. This includes, but is not limited to all fires in NPS provided fire rings and boxes, charcoal fires, tiki torches, incense burners, candles, and propane campfires. Exceptions include self-contained propane or gas stoves or lanterns.
