A restaurant and gas station were heavily damaged in an early morning fire in Lake Stevens, emergency officials said. Firefighters responded to the blaze, in the 500 block of 91st Avenue NE, at about 5:05 a.m. Thursday after receiving a 911 call about flames shooting from the roof of the building where the two businesses are located. When crews arrived on scene, flames and heavy smoke were spewing from the top of the structure. More crews were then called in to help with the firefighting effort. The fire was eventually brought under control, but not before it caused extensive damage. No injuries were reported. Officials said it appeared that the blaze started in the second-story roof somewhere, but the cause remains under investigation.
