One man is dead after getting separated from his kayak and drowning in the Wenatchee River Tuesday afternoon. A 911 call was made around 1:25 p.m. from a witness on the eastern bank of the river who noticed an empty kayak floating on the river. The witness saw a man in the water behind the kayak and stated it appeared he was trying to catch up to the kayak. After making the phone call, the witness lost sight of the man in the river but could still see the kayak floating downriver unoccupied. Personnel from Chelan County Fire District #9, Cascade EMS, and the Chelan County Sheriff's Office responded to the area to attempt to locate the missing man.
