Pacific County Fire District 1 has scheduled a meeting to fill a vacancy on its board of commissioners at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ocean Park station, 26109 Ridge Ave. Longtime Commissioner Greg McLeod, 79, died on Nov. 30 in Long Beach. According to his biography on the fire district’s website, McLeod had served on the three-member commission since 2007. However, Chinook Observer archives show he was commission chairman in 2007 and was honored in 2002 for 20 years of service as a PCFD1 firefighter and commissioner. The U.S. Army veteran worked in military intelligence for more than six years before he was released from active duty as a captain in 1967.
