Vancouver firefighters freed a man from his SUV on Tuesday afternoon by breaking the windshield of his vehicle, one of three involved in a crash on Interstate 5, according to a Clark County Fire District 6 spokesman.
The man’s SUV rolled and ended up on its side on the right shoulder of I-5 just south of the 78th Street onramp, said Fire District 6 public information officer Dave Schmitke. The man was taken to a hospital after being extricated, Schmitke said.
“But luckily, no one was seriously injured,” he said.
The initial call about the crash, which involved two personal vehicles and a tractor-trailer, came in at 1:08 p.m., Schmitke said.
Two lanes were initially closed while crews from two fire engines and another asset worked the scene. Traffic slowed to a crawl, but one of the lanes was reopened within a half hour, according to the fire district.
