A dog died and a home was badly damaged after a blaze broke out in a Kennewick home. An officer spotted the smoke coming from the house on the 1200 block of West First Avenue around 8:20 a.m. Thursday. When firefighters from Kennewick, Richland, Pasco and Benton County Fire District 1 responded, they found flames coming from a bedroom window. The fire appears to have started behind the house and spread inside, said Battalion Chief Tod Kreutz. Several people were evacuated from the area, but no one was injured. Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze.
