A man is in custody Thursday after he violated a court order and assaulted a family member and then barricaded himself inside a home for hours, starting a fire and causing significant damage inside the house, police said. The incident began around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when officers responded to a call about a domestic violence order violation in the 7300 block of 52nd Avenue NE. The caller said the suspect had physically assaulted the victim and threatened to kill her. The 35-year-old suspect fled before officers arrived. A K-9 police dog attempted to track the man, but was unsuccessful.
