Units with the Spokane Valley Fire Department and Spokane County Fire District 8 responded to a structure fire just before 9 a.m. Saturday. Arriving crews found a garage at 4209 S. Sunderland was on fire. Engine 84 upgraded the incident to a working fire which brought more resources to the scene. Units aggressively attacked the garage fire and were able to slow the fire's spread. Firefighters assigned to the main living area of the house determined that some fire had spread into the top floor of the house. This triggered additional units to be added to the call. The fire inside the main living area was quickly extinguished. Fire crews say there was no one home at the time of the fire and the house did have working smoke detectors.
