Washington fire crews that mobilized to help fight the Thomas Fire in California will be home for Christmas.
WA Strike Team 1, which included firefighters from several agencies, will begin driving home Friday.
“They worked hard and were able to help protect homes and help prepped people to come back to their homes after evacuations....now it is their turn to come home!” Snohomish County Fire District 7 wrote in a Facebook post.
The team deployed two weeks ago to help fight the massive southern California fire, which has burned around 272,000 acres.
