Clallam County Fire District No. 4 was recognized by the state Fire Commissioner’s Association recently. Fire Commissioner Terry Barnett accepted the award for first place in division “D” — operating budgets under $500,000 — on behalf of the district. Winners are selected in four divisions based on budget size. Fire districts are judged on the innovative programs, management techniques and accomplishments throughout the past year. This marks the fourth year that Joyce’s all-volunteer department has been recognized for its management practices and fiscal responsibility, according to a news release.
