King County Marine Rescue and Eastside Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to a father and his 13-year old son who were stranded in their boat in the middle of the Snoqualmie River, off Carnation Farms Road, on Monday night.
The King County Sheriff’s Office said gravel got into the intake of the boat’s engine, and the father and son ended up getting caught on a sandbar. Gary Horcher arrived at the scene and reported that rescuers were having a difficult time accessing the father and son. Visibility, shallow sand and gravel disabled the rescue boat’s engine, and also caused it to run aground.
