A Washington State University student who was frying donuts in his apartment kitchen Tuesday night apparently sparked a two-alarm fire in Pullman. By the time firefighters from Pullman and Whitman County arrived at the Cougar Crest Apartments at 2024 NE Terre View Drive at 7 p.m. the apartment was in flames. The student said he fried some donuts, then went into the bathroom to take a shower. He said he thought he turned the stove off but the kitchen was on fire when he came out of the bathroom, according to a fire department news release. The resident unsuccessfully attempted to put it out with a fire extinguisher.
