Quick action on an increasingly snowy morning helped firefighters prevent a fire from spreading Friday morning at a house on McKinley Avenue. At least five fire trucks responded the single-story structure at 1301 McKinley Avenue about 8:30 a.m. No one appeared to be inside the tan-colored house, where the exterior white trim and tall brick fireplace appeared to have been untouched by flames. About a dozen firefighters climbed a ladder to the roof and entered through the front door to search for anyone and extinguish the fire, which was only apparent from the smoke rising from the roof around 9 a.m.
