Six weeks after a fire killed a 46-year-old Yakima woman at a Gordon Road apartment complex, investigators with the police and fire departments say they are not ready to announce the fire’s cause. Investigators say due to trouble tracking down witnesses, they haven’t reached a conclusion on the cause of the ?Dec. 9 fire, which resulted in an estimated $200,000 in damages at the Mesa Apartments and displaced dozens of residents. “As of now, we have no determination into the cause, as (the case) is still with the Yakima Police Department detectives,” said Yakima Fire Department spokesman Capt. Jeff Pfaff in an email. Three people were pulled out of a second-floor window after a fire broke out at the 32-unit complex in the 1700 block of Gordon Road. One of those rescued, Virginia Murr, died in Seattle two days later from asphyxia due to smoke inhalation, according to the King County medical examiner. The death has been ruled accidental.
