Firefighters are grateful for cooler weather Thursday as they continue battling the Dry Creek Fire burning on the Washington state side of the Columbia River near White Salmon.
As of Thursday morning, the wildfire measured 337 acres and was 35 percent contained.
According to Northwest Incident Management Team 6, the fire is burning on Washington State Department of Natural Resources and private timber company lands in southern Klickitat County.
Officials say Highway 141 is open, but a pilot car is escorting traffic through the fire area from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Overnight, there will not be an escort and drivers will need to stay alert.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the weekend, so firefighters are trying to make significant progress Friday.
