Fire crews are working to extinguish two brush fires near Wapato.
Authorities said one brush fire burned 10 acres, located to the right of I-82 eastbound roads near milepost 47 and 50, Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews said the fire is completely controlled.
Another brush fire is burning about a mile and a half away and has burned 80 acres. District 5 requested a second alarm fire around 2:20 pm.
Crews from Selah, East Valley, West Valley, Yakima and Yakama Nation Fire Management crews have responded and a helicopter will be utilized to assist in extinguishing the fires.
Deputy Chief Joel Byam, District 5 Fire Department, said gaining access to the fire is challenging due to the fire's proximity to the freeway and waterways. The fire is not controlled.
