A fire that began on a porch spread to a mobile home in Poulsbo on Wednesday.
The fire killed one dog. A second dog was taken to a veterinary clinic.
Firefighters went to the Poulsbo Mobile Home Park about 12:40 p.m. Police arrived first, and fire officials said an officer was able to use an extinguisher to put out much of the porch fire, slowing its spread.
Officer Dave Gessell "likely saved the home," said a Poulsbo Fire Department official said in a news release.
The fire spread under the porch and into the home. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.
The family of five that live there wasn't home. The fire destroyed the porch, and a storage unit. The home sustained smoke damaged but was saved.
